Bermudian golfer Chris Parry finished third at the 2026 British Speedgolf Championship, played on Sunday, September 6 at Sunningdale Heath Golf Club in England. Parry posted a combined speedgolf score of 185:59 to take a podium place behind two of the format’s leading names.
Speedgolf, described by the championship’s organisers as a “faster, more athletic version of golf,” rewards players for both scoring and pace. A player’s result is the total of their strokes plus their elapsed time in minutes and seconds, and the British Championship was contested over two rounds played on the same day.
The title went to defending champion James Hardy, a PGA professional, who shot rounds of 63 in 25:06 and 61 in 25:55 for a combined 175:01. According to British Speedgolf, the win was Hardy’s fourth consecutive major speedgolf victory, following earlier titles this year at the French, US and Benelux championships. Northumberland’s Will Robson finished second with 177:51.
Parry, speaking to Bernews after the event, said he hopes to introduce the format at home. “It would be great to bring a new sport to Bermuda and attract international attendees,” he said, adding that he plans to organise a speedgolf event on the island in the future.
His result adds to a busy stretch for Bermudian golf, which is preparing to host the Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course from October 22 to 25.
