The PGA TOUR’s 2026 season has three stops close to home for Caribbean fans. The Puerto Rico Open in March and the Corales Puntacana Championship in July both produced first-time winners, and the Butterfield Bermuda Championship comes next in October. The three events offer different rewards and fit into the schedule in different ways, but each one brings the top tier of professional golf to the region.
Puerto Rico Open 2026: Castillo’s Breakthrough at Grand Reserve
Ricky Castillo won his first PGA TOUR title at Grand Reserve Golf Club in Río Grande, finishing at 17 under par, 271. He beat Chandler Blanchet by one shot in the final round on March 8. The former Florida Gator played his last 52 holes without a bogey and closed with a 67. His school counted it as the 100th PGA TOUR win by a Florida alum.
The Puerto Rico Open is an opposite-field event. The purse was $4 million, and Castillo took home $720,000 and 300 FedExCup points. Golf Monthly reported that the win also gave him a two-year TOUR exemption and a place in the PGA Championship, but not an automatic trip to the Masters. Local favorite Rafael Campos tied for 16th at 10 under.
Corales Puntacana Championship: Co-Sanctioned and Opposite The Open
The Dominican Republic stop was played in July. It was co-sanctioned by the PGA TOUR and the DP World Tour and played the same week as The Open. The event was held on Tom Fazio’s Corales Golf Course at Puntacana Resort, a 7,670-yard par 72 that finishes with the oceanside stretch called the Devil’s Elbow. The purse was $4 million. The winner received 300 FedExCup points and 3,500 Race to Dubai points.
Italy’s Stefano Mazzoli started the final round four shots back. He shot 66, birdied the 18th, and on July 19 finished at 19 under, one ahead of England’s Todd Clements and American Gordon Sargent. According to the DP World Tour, the 29-year-old rookie earned PGA TOUR playing privileges through the end of 2028. It was his first win on either tour. South Africa’s Garrick Higgo was the defending champion.
Butterfield Bermuda Championship: Earlier Dates in October
Bermuda is part of the eight-event FedExCup Fall, which the PGA TOUR says plays a key role in settling eligibility for the 2027 season. The 2026 Fall schedule has tournament week at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton set for October 19–25. Each Fall event carries 500 FedExCup points.
The tournament moved earlier this year. Bermuda’s sports minister, Owen Darrell, told The Royal Gazette that the change to competition days of October 22–25 was meant to give players more daylight, after rounds were hard to finish in 2025. Adam Schenk won last year. Campos won in 2024 by three shots at 19 under, for his first PGA TOUR title.
What the Region’s Three Stops Offer
These three events work as entry points to the TOUR. The Puerto Rico Open and Corales give players who aren’t in the season’s biggest fields a chance to win, earn status and start a career. Bermuda comes late in the year, when points and eligibility for the next season are at stake. Together they also give Caribbean spectators and local professionals a regular look at PGA TOUR golf.
The next stop is Port Royal in late October, where Fall points will again help decide who keeps their card for 2027.
