Cabot Saint Lucia has opened Point Hardy, a new course from architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw set across a 375-acre peninsula on St. Lucia’s northern coast, adding a marquee destination to the Caribbean’s fast-growing golf map.
The layout is built around nine oceanfront greens, giving the design an unusually high share of holes that play directly along the water even by Caribbean-resort standards.
The opening lands amid a broader wave of investment in the region’s golf infrastructure. At Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in the Dominican Republic, the famed Teeth of the Dog course, originally designed by Pete Dye, has just completed a $15 million renovation led by Jerry Pate Design, including sand-capped fairways, new Pure Dynasty paspalum grassing, and rebuilt bunkers across its seven oceanfront holes.
In Barbados, Apes Hill’s Ron Kirby-designed championship course underwent a full transformation completed in 2023, adding a golf academy and a 9-hole short course alongside jungle walking trails, and picked up Best Golf Course honors for the Caribbean at that year’s World Golf Awards.
More is on the way: Eleuthera in the Bahamas is set to add both a Tiger Woods design and the first Jack Nicklaus Heritage Course at Jack’s Bay, alongside a Robert Trent Jones II layout anchoring the $200 million Cotton Bay development, while Fajardo, Puerto Rico is preparing a Mackenzie & Ebert design at the 1,100-acre Moncayo Golf & Ocean Club.
