Daniel Augustus led from start to finish to win the 2026 Johnnie Walker Classic at Ocean View Golf Course, finishing six shots clear of the field. The Ocean View regular opened with a 68 and followed it with a bogey-free 67 to post a five-under-par total of 135, collecting the Johnnie Walker Classic title for the second time in his career.
Augustus Controls the Johnnie Walker Classic From the Start
The 36-hole championship was played over the weekend of September 19–20, and blustery conditions made the opening round a test of patience. Augustus handled it best, carding three birdies against a single bogey for a two-under 68 and a two-shot lead over Chaka DeSilva and Mark Phillips, who both opened with level-par 70s.
He never let the advantage slip. His Sunday round of three birdies and 15 pars meant he dropped only one shot across the entire event, the goal he said he set himself before the week began. Speaking to The Royal Gazette, Augustus said the victory felt “like a monkey off my back,” adding: “This is my home golf course, I love it here, I love the people here and to win in front of my home crowd always feels good.”
He also pointed to the quality of his striking. “This is probably the best ball-striking week I’ve had in a very long time,” he said. “I feel like my game is going in the right direction, and I am happy about that.”
Final Leaderboard: Jones Charges Into Second
Nick Jones, the Ocean View teaching professional, matched Augustus’s 67 for the low round on Sunday. His 67 included an eagle and three birdies against two bogeys and lifted him to one over par and outright second place. DeSilva and Phillips each closed with 73 to share third at three over.
In the other divisions, Jonathan James was the leading amateur at five over par, good for sixth overall, while Henry Ascento took the senior title at 13 over, according to the Royal Gazette.

A New Champion After Sherlock’s Absence
The title was guaranteed to change hands this year. Quinton Sherlock Jr, who went wire to wire to win the 2025 edition by two shots, was unable to defend because he was off the island, tournament organising committee chairman OJ Pitcher told the Royal Gazette ahead of the event. Professionals Dwayne Pearman and Kenny Leseur were also absent from the field.
Momentum Ahead of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship
The result caps a strong September for both of the top two finishers. Earlier in the month, Jones and Augustus finished first and third in the local qualifier for the PGA Tour’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship. Jones will play at Port Royal on October 22–25 alongside fellow Bermudian Camiko Smith, while Augustus, under this year’s revised qualifying format, has secured his place in the 2027 championship.
For now, the man who calls Ocean View home has a second Johnnie Walker Classic title and, by his own account, the best ball-striking form he has shown in years.
